Passion Week: Wednesday

To the ordinary person, another day is just another day to do ordinary things until it’s another day. To Jesus, Wednesday meant transition. Things were changing, and the palm branches that once waved to greet a Savior were now withering on the ground. Clothing that was used to line the path of Jesus as [...]

Passion Week: Tuesday

Ever had more to do than your day allowed? No time for lunch, additional appointments, phone calls, or outside activities. The clock moves extra quickly and the tasks move especially slowly. There is a battle between time and task. Inevitably, when your day is done, there is always more to do tomorrow, and thus, the [...]

Passion Week: Monday

I’m sitting here today reflecting on exactly what this week means and has meant for the past 2000 or so years. Many years ago, Jesus spent His last week before His death purposefully engaging in important activities. Interestingly, Jesus knew He was going to die within the week, so I’m sure He was extremely [...]

Forgiveness: Cover or Confront?

Life is full of disappointment and hurt. This person hurts you, that person hurts you, your boss hurts you, your spouse hurts you, your cousin hurts you, your best friend hurts you, and people you don’t even know hurt you. Sometimes, it seems that life is one big three-ring circus full of hurt. More times [...]

10 Reasons Employees Stay!

Here are a few of my thoughts about leaders and the positive influence they can have on their employees. Lead, don’t lord A real leader leads. People generally react better when they are led and not driven. The changing work environment has produced a more equal educational and experience level of employees who really [...]

Obedience is Hard!

Let’s be honest. Obedience is hard. We require it of our children and our employees, but drive faster than the speed limit because rules and laws don’t apply to us. It’s not a speed limit, just a speed suggestion. Obedience is about others, not about us. Obedience is about others submitting us, not us submitting [...]

Is It Really All About Me?

Humility is easier to define than to display. Some would say that humility is the opposite of pride.   Some would say that humility is the absence of pride. The problem is as believers we all struggle with pride. It creeps in slowly and disguises itself as advancement, success, or accomplishment. This pride quickly [...]

31 Days of Promise and Hope…..Day 31: Promise and Hope

That is what we seek. That is what we need. Today, I want to end our 31-day journey by sharing that promise and hope. We know our problem is sin, and sin causes us separation with God. We also know that we have inherited sin and imputed sin. This means that we have an inherited [...]

31 Days of Promise and Hope…..Day 30: Inherited + Imputed = We need help!

Yesterday we reviewed the significance of Adam and Eve’s sin in the garden. As a result of Adam’s sin, we all have a corrupt nature. His sin was passed down to us. “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because [...]
