The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul

Psalm 19:7

Life is just hard. Every day seems to bring its share of difficulties and hurdles. We jump through one hoop, and there is another one waiting for us. Physical issues, family issues, and friend issues seem to cause additional stress in our lives, and sometimes we can’t make it over one more hurdle. It does more than suck our energy from us. It detrimentally affects our relationship with the Lord. We become tired and frustrated, while at the same time distracted from the single most important relationship we have — our relationship with the Lord.

The Bible is perfect

This goes without saying, but the law of the Lord is perfect. There are many places we could go for counsel, but the Bible is the very best place because it is perfect. “The word of God is living and active” (Hebrews 4:12). It does what it says it will do. God’s word is perfect and powerful, and we can count on it to be true.

We must first realize that we have access to something reliable in every situation.

The Bible revives the soul

The Bible also revives the soul. This is fantastic news. When we read the Bible, it should spiritually place us in a position where God can use us. It puts us back to our original usefulness for God.

Think about it like this. A football player falls prey to an injury. Through rehabilitation and hard work and endless physical therapy, he eventually becomes useful to the team again by returning to his original strength. It’s the same with us, except our rehabilitation uses God’s word as our spiritual therapy rather than physical therapy. Through the rehabilitation process, God uses His word to spiritually prepare us for the hurdles and hoops in life.

Will you trust His word today to revive you? How much time will you take to allow God’s word to nurture and rehabilitate your soul?
