I’m not sure if any of you do this, but I woke up this morning with a verse on my mind. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” I can’t get it out of my mind. Real quickly, here are a couple of thoughts.
God created this day.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. God still creates today. In fact, He created this day. As I think about that I’m reminded about His sovereignty and love for us. He created all of nature that we enjoy each day. He is such a powerful and awesome God who never ceases to think about us. He cares intimately for us. Never fail to remember that God created this day for Himself as it brings glory to Him.
God created this day for a purpose.
Proverbs 19:21 says, “The Lord’s purpose will stand.” That is exactly what God provides each day for us. Think about it. Whatever God does, He does for a purpose. This day He’s given us is for a purpose. I thank God that He is a God of order and purpose. I thank God that the closer I get to Him, the more I understand His purposes for my life. What is God’s purpose for you today?
God created this day for us to worship Him.
A primary purpose for today is to worship God. Not just by singing a brief song on the way to work, but to consider God all day long. Try to include God in everything you do. When you eat, when you meet, when you talk, when you walk, when you speak, and when you have long discussions with co-workers that don’t seem to go anywhere…..include God.
Trust God with His purpose for you. Rest in His will for your life. Make today a day that you will attempt to live out His purpose for you by worshiping Him and resting in His purpose. Life may throw unexpected turns and twists in your own plans, but God is always at work in every situation to bring honor and glory to Himself as a result of our faith through, and response to those situations.
